Not Using Proper English Helped Me Declutter Closets Fast

I realize that 'declutter' is not really a word.  Most people say 'unclutter' or 'get rid of clutter', but 'declutter has great potential to be added to Webster someday.  Now when you add 'declutter' next to a name of a space in your home, then it really gets its power.  Let's take the phrase 'declutter closets'.  Because of 'declutter' not really being a word, it still draws someone's attention to the concept of cleaning out your closet. Is it important enough to you to declutter closets, that you can over look improper English?

If you answered YES, then you need a plan to get you to your goal of clean, organized closets. Your plan should include an evaluation of the closet you want to organize and what items you want to put in that closet.

Figuring out what you want to put in the space can be a simple process. Take everything out of the closet and lay it out in a large area so you can see all the items. Sort all the items into piles for keeping, donating and trashing. Then take another look at the keep pile. Decide if all these items should go back in the same closet or somewhere else.

Next step is to measure the closet itself. Height, width and depth are a good start. Next determine if you need shelving, cubbies, hanging rods, drawers or any other type of holder of stuff. Get the dimensions of all the organizing items you will need.

Lastly, you will need to figure out how to layout your closet with all the organizing items in it. This is best done by drawing scaled pictures or actually making little scaled cutouts and arranging them in a drawing of the closet.
